MANNING – Reverend Doctor Spencer Averitt Jordan, 55, husband of Kimberly Vosberg Jordan, died Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born November 22, 1968, in Lake City, he was a son of Shirley McKenzie Jordan and the late Averitt Kendyle Jordan. Spencer's passion was coaching and teaching. He served as headmaster at Laurence Manning Academy for 14 years and he was currently serving as executive director for the South Carolina Independent Schools Association, a position that was his dream job. He was an integral part of the American Legion Baseball program. Spencer was also serving as pastor for Mt. Vernon Methodist Church and Lane Methodist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of Manning are two sons, Jake Jordan (Nicolette Lithgow) and Mickey Jordan, both of Columbia; his mother of Lake City; a sister, Denise Miles (Dalton) of Lake City; a brother, Mike Jordan (Sue) of Lake City; three nephews, Drew (Kelbe), Wade (Mary Katheryn) and Russ (Christi); father and mother-in-law, Mick and Janet Vosberg of Hazel Green, WI; and two brothers-in-law, Chris Vosberg of Hazel Green, WI and Monte Vosberg (Margaret) of Milwaukee, WI.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Scott Vosberg.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, 2024, at the Weldon Auditorium with the Rev. Mike Lowder and the Rev. Jay Wilder officiating. Burial will follow at Clarendon Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Robin Coker, Billy Weaver, Robbie Braciszewski, Cag Brunson, Stacy Osteen, Shayne Stephens, Evan Powell and Ben Herod.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Fanning, Terry Hicks, Tim Turbeville, Herb Turbeville, Gary Lee, Bill Brewer, Vann Page, Joe Wilson and Warren McClam.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 4079 Bloomville Road, Manning.
