I am a resident of Martha's Vineyard Mass. and happen to have USC news on one of my home screens. i stumbled across Prof. Narayan's obituary there. I have no connection to his field, or even to USC but I was moved and humbled to read of his brilliance, his generosity, his struggle with the horrible disease which took him. It is an unimaginable loss to his famly and a huge loss to the university. I will be sending respects and good wishes from afar for all of you who loved him. Lee Flournoy (she/her)

We were deeply saddened to hear the news. Narayanan and Vaidehi were both our seniors from IIT Madras. My wife Gomathi happened to be a friend of Vaidehi from their school days, which we came to know when we visited them at Caltech in 1992. Narayanan is an alumnus of IPC Department at IISc where I am now. I visited them in 2019 when I was in LA for a conference. We were chatting all night and I enjoyed their hospitality. Narayanan was invited to give a talk in our Department some years ago. My cousin Ravindranathah was from the same batch in IPC and I had known Narayanan for long. Deep condolences to Vaidehi. May she have the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss.
