Celebrating the life of Sriluk Sungkapan, a beacon of love and kindness, who passed away at the age of 82 on November 14, 2025, in Palos Heights, due to complications from a stroke. Born on August 16, 1943, in the beautiful province of Supan Buri, Thailand, Sriluk was a cherished individual whose life journey brought joy and inspiration to all who knew her.
Sriluk, known affectionately by her friends and family, was a woman of great strength and compassion. She cultivated a life filled with love alongside her devoted husband, Sarun, and was a nurturing mother to her three sons, Supagon Sonny, Chinnawat Shane, and Gridsada Don, as well as a guiding light to her daughters-in-law, Sara Christine, Elyse Nicole, and Samantha Rose. The legacy of her warm spirit is carried on through her grandchildren-Ethan Khuan, Maxwell Colin, Logan John, Devin Samuel, Ashland Dean, Lucille Rose, Lincoln Alan, and Quinn Rose Sri-who were the apples of her eye.
As a Charge NICU Nurse at Cook County and Englewood Hospital she touched countless lives, offering hope and gentle care to families during their most fragile moments. A devout Buddhist, Sriluk's faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through life's challenges and triumphs with a serene grace. Her spiritual practices were a testament to her thoughtful nature and provided a source of solace and strength to her loved ones.
Sriluk's zest for life was evident in her varied interests. She was an enthusiastic karaoke singer, known to light up any gathering with her melodious voice and infectious energy. An avid sports fan, she never missed a Bears game, cheering with gusto from the comfort of her living room. Her love for sports also extended to the basketball court and badminton, where she displayed her competitive yet fair spirit. In her retired life, along with Sarun, their joy of traveling took them to many destinations including Alaska, Hawaii, and also a few return trips to homeland Thailand. But above all, her favorite pastime was playing with her grandchildren, where she found immense joy in their laughter and boundless curiosity.
Those who knew Sriluk describe her as the epitome of love, kindness, and thoughtfulness. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her gentle demeanor brought comfort to those around her. She was a friend to many, offering wise counsel and a listening ear to anyone in need.
As we bid farewell to Sriluk Sungkapan, we reflect on a life lived with purpose and grace. Her memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to cross paths with this remarkable woman. Sriluk's legacy of love and kindness will resonate for generations, and she will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
