SSG Ryan Patrick MacPherson, born on April 18, 1984, in Adrian, Michigan, passed away suddenly on October 29, 2024, due to injuries suffered in a tragic motorcycle accident in Hattiesburg, MS. His unexpected departure has left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who loved him, and he will be missed by family, friends, and comrades alike.
Ryan was a devoted husband to Pamela Elizabeth (nee Livingston) MacPherson and a loving father to his cherished children: Amaryn Beau MacPherson, Pyhper Ryan Nicole MacPherson, Ryla Ann Livingston MacPherson, Ayla June MacPherson, and Ruethie Summer La'Ryn MacPherson, Dave McDaniel IV, Alyssa Dominque McDaniel, Kahden Isreal McDaniel, Austin Isaiah McDaniel, Emberleigh Jade Stanley and Anthony Jason MacPherson. A proud grandfather to his grandson, Jakarson Elijah Portis.
Deeply rooted in family, Ryan was the son of Patrick MacPherson and Jody (Bill) Schoening, beloved by his grandfather Rand MacPherson, and cherished by his siblings, Kurt Chance-William MacPherson, Sarah Elizabeth MacPherson, Landon Schoening and Jadelyn MacPherson. As well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Each family member cherished his warmth and vibrant spirit, forming cherished memories that will be forever held close.
Throughout his life, Ryan embodied a spirit of service and dedication. As a Staff Sergeant, he dedicated himself to the protection and leadership of others, living the ethos of duty, honor, and country. His commitment extended beyond his military career and into every aspect of his life, fostering relationships built on trust, respect, and love.
In recognition of our proud American tradition of honorable service which our military men and women have given to their country and our State, we honor a Fallen Hero. Our nation, our state, and the National Guard Association of MS (NGAMS) regard the memorializing of its retired military deceased as an honorable and sacred obligation.
Another great Soldier and Fallen Hero has been released from duty, passed from our ranks on Oct 29, 2024 and has moved on to his heavenly home. SSG Ryan MacPherson, age 40, who had served within the MSARNG within Company A, 1st Battalion, 155th Infantry Regiment has departed and gone to a better place with our good Lord.
It takes a special person to serve within the military for their country, giving up their family time, comfort, and safety for their country, ultimately for all Americans to enjoy their freedoms, safety, and way of life. We now applaud you for your service to our country. A special message from General Douglas McArthur remains applicable today for our servicemen that have passed: “Old Soldiers never die; they just fade away”.
Rest in Peace Soldier. We applaud your patriotism, sacrifices, and brave efforts in serving our country and your family for their support of your service. We thank you for your service. Without your efforts and your families’ support, our country would not stand so boldly, shine so bright, and live so free.
You now have earned a rest, so go fly with the Angels, go rest high on that mountain; your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shoutin’ Love for the Father and the Son.
Another great Soldier has gone home, “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten, Soldier for Life”
Ryan’s legacy of love, commitment, and selflessness will echo in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. May his memory be a source of comfort to his family and friends during this heart-wrenching time, reminding them always of the joy he brought into their lives.
