Stanley DiPietro Obituary

Stanley Anthony DiPietro, 65 of Pittsfield, MA died Monday June 7, 2021 as a result of a motorcycle accident in Pittsfield.

He was born in Pittsfield, MA on June 29, 1955, a son of the late Anthony James and Josephine Mary (Parise) DiPietro. He attended local schools and graduated from Taconic High School.

Stanley was a combat veteran and served in the US Navy with Inshore Undersea Warfare Group 1 in Vietnam and later as an Engineman 3rd class aboard the USS Cleveland LPD-7. Following his military service, he worked on ship engines for Bethlehem Steel in California and traveled to Japan, Australia, and various foreign ports all over the world. In the 1980's he owned and operated DiPietro Automotive after working as a mechanic at Haddad Auto. He was a certified master mechanic and could fix literally anything. While raising his children he worked for the Pittsfield Water Dept. He was last employed by Auto-part international where he had many friends.

Stanley was a communicant of St. Mark's Church. He enjoyed building and riding motorcycles, drawing and inventing inside his garage, golfing, watching football, gardening, spending time in the woods or at the beach, and fixing cars and making them go fast. Above all, Stanley was a devoted father and husband who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Stanley was well know as an extremely hard worker who selflessly went above and beyond in every way. He is well respected within the community for his integrity and ability to spread endless amounts of love. Stanley made everyone happy all the time.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne A. (Scoco) DiPietro whom he married on October 7, 1988; one daughter- Fallon Elizabeth DiPietro of Pittsfield, and two sons- John A. DiPietro and Nicholas J. DiPietro, both of Pittsfield. He also leaves three sisters- Kathleen DiPietro of Pittsfield, Jamie DiPietro of Dalton and Patricia Pelkey of Pittsfield; three brothers- Thomas DiPietro, Gary DiPietro and Steven DiPietro, all of Pittsfield along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one sister and one brother- Constance Gamari and Anthony DiPietro.

Stanley was one of my childhood friends when I lived on Zoar Street. He and his sister, Kathy, and I spent much time playing together. During March 1973, I was stationed at Marine Barracks, Long Beach Naval Shipyard. Of all places, I ran into Stanley at the mess hall. We recognized each other right away. I was surprised he was in the Navy, and he was surprised I was in the Marines. We spent the next two weeks catching up with each other and exploring Long Beach and San Pedro. I would have loved to catch up with him one more time, but recently learned of his passing. My belated condolences to Kathy and his family.

Gary and Jamie and the family of Stanley, I’m so sorry for your loss of Stanley. My first year working in the public schools, Stanley prevented me from a very embarrassing situation. We became good buddies after that. He walked to the beat of his own drummer . He was a very pleasant person. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
