Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia honoring the life of Stanley Douet, 86, who passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at his residence.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in Cecilia on Tuesday from 10:00 am until 1:30 pm.
A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 am by the Ladies Altar Society.
Father Michael Richard will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Brenda Douet and Whitnie Gail Miller. Gift Bearers will be Taylor Poirier, Haley Godeaux and Kimberly Pierce.
Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Stanley spent his lifetime in service to his family and his craft, leaving behind a legacy of love, hard work, and warmth.
A skilled carpenter and dedicated sugar cane farmer, Stanley was a true handyman who could tackle any task that came his way-whether it was carpentry, mechanical, or electrical work, he approached every challenge with determination and ingenuity. His hands built more than just structures; they built a home filled with affection and laughter.
Stanley was a loving and affectionate man, known for his big, long hugs that made everyone feel like family. He embraced life with a sweetness that rivaled his love for desserts, often indulging his well-known sweet tooth. His heart was especially full when surrounded by his cherished children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Rose Marie Stelly Douet; son, Rickey Douet (Donna); daughters, Victoria Douet, Kathleen Richings (Stephen) and Adrienne Godeaux (Greg); grandchildren, Taylor Poirier (Holden), Kimberly Pierce (Christopher) Cody Richings (Stephanie), MA3 Colin Richings, Grant Godeaux (Saylor) and Haley Godeaux; and great-grandchildren, Madden Poirier, Elliott Richings, Charlotte Richings, Graham Godeaux, Isla Godeaux, Nyla Pierce and Abi Pierce, with expected twins, Avery and Adele Pierce.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mitchell Douet and Adeline Landry Douet; brothers, Sidney Douet and Whitney Douet; nephew, Michael Douet; and parents-in-law, Alexious and Azema Stelly.
Pallbearers will be Rickey Douet, Greg Godeaux, Grant Godeaux, Holden Poirier, Cody Richings and MA3 Colin Richings.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Stelly, Christopher Pierce, Clyde Douet, Stephen Richings and John Paul Douet.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Deidra Stelly, Hospice of Acadiana (Carolyn, Colleen, Jamie, Roxanne and Deacon Wyble), niece, Madeline Gerard, Amber Addison and the Henderson Ladies Altar Society.
