Stanley Garfield Hurlston

Stanley "Stan-the-Hit -Man; Peddy; Pedro" Garfield Hurlston was born January 31,1960, to the late Stanley and Barbara Hurlston in Kingston, Jamaica WI. The Lord called his servant home Sunday, September 22, 2024, at his home in Durham, North Carolina.
Stanley enjoyed working on car engines, tinkering, sharing his gift of playing music for friends and family. He loved time spent in nature and longed to return to Cayman to see family and take it the beauty of the island.
He worked at TRW Automotive. He graduated from Pitt Community College where he majored in Electronic and Communication Engineering. Growing up in the Caribbean, he enjoyed playing rugby and attended Cayman Prep High School.
Stanley attended Waypoints of Durham where we found an amazing church family. The connections, fellowship and bonds made during his time in service for the Lord at Waypoints was the highlight of his life after becoming a father. He deeply loved those that he shared time living together during his final days before going home to be with the Lord.
Stanley was a loving father, brother, nephew, uncle, cousin and most importantly a cherished friend. His generous and caring spirit is evident in his willingness to share what he had with others whether large or small, he gave of himself. Stanley loved socializing with family and friends and every year looked forward to gatherings.
Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, grandmother Charlotte Barrett and sister Brigette Edwards.
Stanley's infectious smile, laughter and humor will forever be remembered.
He leaves a legacy of love and care for others to his son Samuel Hurlston, daughter-in-love Amanda Hurlston and 4 grandchildren: Gabriel, Roman, Elizabeth and Wynter of Wurtsboro, New York. He is survived by his oldest brother, Miguel Clark of Dusseldorf, Germany, his Aunt Greta Burke of Lithonia, GA, and Aunts Emily, Novia, Kaye, Gloria, and Uncles Ernest, Stacey (Micky), and Gloria Hurlston of Grand Cayman, a host of cousins, nieces, grandnieces, friends and the special love he shared with his partner.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 5th at Waypoint Church in Chapel Hill.
