Stanley Ilyes Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
Stanley (Stan) M. Ilyes, 85, of York, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2025, at Wellspan York Hospital.
Born in York County, PA on July 10, 1940, Stan was the devoted husband of Helen J. (Grossman) Ilyes, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. Stan is also survived by two daughters; Kimberly K. Hynak & her husband, Bill, and Debra. S. Ray & her fiancé, Sherwood. Stan was 'Pap' to four grandsons; Justyn (& Chelsea), Austyn, Landyn, and Logyn (& Alexis) Ray. Stan also leaves behind two siblings, Rachel Gosnell and Donald Ilyes, along with many nieces and nephews. Stan is now reunited with his late parents, Mahlon (Joe) L. Ilyes and Janet C. (Mitzel) Ilyes, and brother William (Bill) C. Ilyes. Stan was also the best doggy dad to his favorite little girl, Emma.
After graduating from Manchester High School in 1958, Stan proudly served in the US Army and then followed up with a 30+ year career in the automotive industry, retiring with York Chrysler Plymouth Mitsubishi. Stan's love for hunting and fishing brought him all over the country, achieving many successes. As of today, Stan's Maryland state record for the largest black drum still stands at 79.0 lbs.
However, Stan's proudest accomplishment will always be being the best husband, father, and grandfather ever. He never missed a basketball game, volleyball match, softball tournament, birthday, holiday, heck even comedy show! Family always came first.
Stan will be deeply missed by anyone lucky enough to have graced his presence.
Services will be held privately by the family at a later date. Cremation is under the care of John W. Keffer Funeral Homes in York, PA.
