Stanley Johnson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Clark Funeral Home - Granby on Jun. 16, 2025.
Stanley Marshall Johnson, 71, of Granby, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his family, on June 15, 2025.
Stanley was born on July 9, 1953, in Granby, Missouri, to Robert William and Dona Belle (Wells) Johnson. A lifelong resident of Granby, he graduated with the Class of 1971 from East Newton High School. On April 22, 1973, he married the love of his life, Shirley Ann Morgan, at the Granby Gospel Tabernacle. They recently celebrated 52 years of devoted marriage together.
Stanley dedicated nearly three decades-29 and a half years-to working at La-Z-Boy in Neosho, Missouri. He also served his community in many ways, including as a volunteer firefighter in Granby and a beloved coach for all three of his children's sports teams.
He was a longtime member and former deacon of First Baptist Church of Granby. Stanley was also active in the Masonic community as a former member of the Granby Lodge and a current member of Neosho Lodge #247. He was also affiliated with the Springfield Shriners Hospital.
Stanley had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, and raccoon hunting. A natural storyteller with a warm spirit and a ready smile, he brought joy to those around him with his tales and humor. He also had a deep appreciation for music-particularly The Beatles-and passed that love on to his family.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Shirley Johnson; their three children: Sarah (Kurtis) Sheehy of Newtonia, MO; Jacob (Abby) Johnson of Platte County, MO; and Cemma (Aaron) Hurn of Neosho, MO. He is also survived by six cherished grandchildren: Cole Johnson, Jack Johnson, Logan Hurn, Ella Sheehy, Max Johnson, and Molly Sheehy. His memory is further honored by his brothers: Blane Johnson of Granby, MO, and Kevin (Cheri) Johnson of Granby, MO; and his aunt, Margret Johnson of Jacksonville, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Dona Belle Johnson.
Masonic Services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Clark Funeral Home Chapel in Granby, followed by a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Clark Funeral Home in Granby. The casket will remain closed at all times.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Stanley's name may be made to the First Baptist Church of Granby or Shriner's Hospital, in care of Clark Funeral Home, P.O. Box 66, Neosho, MO 64850.
Stanley will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, loyal friend, and faithful servant to his community. His legacy of love, laughter, and service lives on in the many lives he touched.
