Stanley J. Martin

Christ Follower, Father, farmer & rancher, notorious cowboy, and retired chiropractor, Stan Martin’s legacy continues to be carried on and didn’t come to an end with his death. Stan passed away on April 4th, 2024, at the age of 64 after a five-year battle with lung cancer, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by following Christ and living their lives to the fullest.

Stan was born in Flagler, Colorado, on October 30th, 1959. His Father and Mother, Floyd and Maybelle Martin, raised him along with his two older brothers (Paul and Harvey Martin) in Genoa, Colorado. Growing up, Stan was a great athlete in multiple sports, often leading Genoa High School deep into the playoffs. He also graduated at the top of his class academically. His cowboy days started young on the farm where he started at age ~5 riding his very mean Shetland pony “Rusty”. This transitioned into breaking seven horses with his older brother Paul, and eventually running their own cattle. Stan loved his mother’s cooking and raved over her fried chicken, angel food cake, and many more. He loved the sunsets in eastern Colorado and enjoyed spending time with as much family as he could. He learned the values of Christ, family, and helping others that would guide him throughout his life’s journey. 

Stan had a passion for helping others and felt called to do his part. The list of his patients is long, and he did his best to help anyone and everyone. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, in 1984 with his Doctorate of Chiropractic. His passion for helping others developed from an early age, and he had multiple practices across Colorado in both Denver and Limon for nearly forty years. He invented new methods to adjust and always did his best to give patients the best treatment. He loved talking with patients, adjusting them, and doing whatever he could to improve their overall health. 

Stan lived his life to the fullest despite battling an aggressive form of lung cancer, which never stopped him from continuing to ride horses, travel, spend time with the people he loved, driving fast cars, listening to live music, drinking his favorite tequila, whisky, and wine. He loved traveling especially to beaches and oceans; his personal favorites were Maui, Cannon Beach, and Key West. He loved moving cattle, elk hunting, and riding horses across the Rocky Mountains with his friends. He had a personality larger than life and was known for his ability to love everyone unconditionally. He loved making people laugh, sharing insightful wisdom, and using one-liners that could defuse the most stressful situations.

Not many people can claim to have held as many interesting jobs as he did during his time here on Earth. Stan was a dedicated Chiropractor for nearly 40 years, was once the largest exporter of organic millet to Japan, ran cattle, was a sales rep for uttermost.com, and a loving father. Stan loved working with his hands, building five custom homes, model train sets, and had a great ability for numbers and design. He had many hobbies including doing trail rides with friends, making his wine, rooting for his favorite hockey team, the Avalanche, yelling at the Broncos, cooking ribeye steaks, and supporting his two sons. Stan was a resolute man of faith and held a deep dedication to helping others. In the last five to ten years, he wrote a bible study about the book of Revelation guided by the Holy Spirit to help those to better understand the complexity of the scripture.

Those who knew Stan knew how large his heart was and how he would light up every room he walked in. He would do his best to care for everyone, be a shoulder to cry on, and be there to support his sons, friends, and family through the entire way. His faith grew stronger throughout the years and continued to grow even throughout his battle with cancer. His trust in Christ was amazing, and he was a true role model for those who knew him. Stan was a light in this world and was truly on fire for Christ. 

His larger-than-life personality was contagious to everyone he met and absolutely loved to put a smile on everyone’s face. Stan is survived by his two sons; Mason and Jake, brothers; Paul and Harvey, as well as many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
