Stanley (Stan) E. Penner, was born January 26, 1959, in Lakewood, California, to Bruce and Hazel Penner. Stan grew up in Lakewood with his parents and older brother Rod.

Stan attended Elementary, Junior High and High School in Lakewood, graduating from Mayfair High School in 1977. Stan was very active in sports growing up, participating in baseball, basketball and football. He was also very active in the church his family attended.

After a short stint at Cerritos Jr. College, Stan attended Point Loma College, in San Diego. He graduated from Point Loma in May 1982, with a Bachelor of Arts Degree. In August 1982, Stan married his girlfriend, also a fellow Point Loma Graduate, Dawn Saliger. Stan and Dawn lived in the Anaheim and Chino areas, during their time together. They had two sons: Kevin and Drew.

Stan continued his sports participation into adulthood, playing softball and also ran in the City of Los Angeles Marathon twice.

After college, Stan worked briefly in retail management but subsequently joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in March 1983. During his very successful 32 year career, he worked Custody, Patrol and County Services assignments. In June of 2015, he retired at the rank of Lieutenant.

In 2011, Stan married Marisela Stec. They lived in the Eastvale, CA area. Shortly after Stan’s retirement from the LASD, they moved from California to Colorado, settling in the City of Arvada. Stan worked as a Substitute Teacher for the Jefferson County Public Schools District and the Adams 12 Five Star Schools District. He was highly thought of as a Sub Teacher. Stan was a very active volunteer, as a member of the Security Team at the churches he attended.

Stan passed away on May 13, 2025. He is survived by his father Bruce; his son Kevin and wife Whitney; his son Drew and wife Sadie, and their sons Levi and Noah; and Kevin and Drew's mother; and his brother Rod and wife Donna. He is also survived by his wife Marisela and her family; daughter Kristen and her husband Forrest, and their daughter Kenzie; and Marisela’s son Brandon.

A Memorial Service will be held on June 13, 2025, at 1:00pm, at the Red Rocks Church, Arvada Campus (7100 Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80003).
