Stanley J. Stack, age 102, of Medina, NY passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the New York State Veterans Home in Batavia.
Born July 3, 1922 in Medina, he was a son of the late Joseph and Julia (Nowicki) Stach. Growing up in Medina, Mr. Stack was one of ten children. He attended Sacred Heart School and Medina High School. Shortly after, Mr. Stack was called to duty during World War II. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1942 and was honorably discharged in 1945. Returning home from war, Mr. Stack married the love of his life, the former Mary Hibbard on May 3, 1947. He worked for Harrison Radiator in Lockport for many years and retired in 1976. Mr. Stack was a parishioner of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus RC Church and then Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Medina. He was a proud member of Butts-Clark Post #204 American Legion, the Senior Citizens of Western Orleans and was a member of the Sacred Heart Club since 1940. Mr. Stack enjoyed a long retirement and enjoyed playing cards, bowling and gardening.
Predeceased by his wife, Mary Stack in 2020; brothers, Vincent, Walter, Henry, Chester and Frank Stack; sisters, Mary Vahoviak, Helen Scott and Victoria Krolikowski.
Survivors include his daughter, Lisa (Christopher) Joseph of Missouri; a granddaughter, Allison E. Joseph of Hickory, NC; brother, Edward Stack of Massachusetts; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 2 from 10-11:30AM at Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. His Mass of Christian Burial will immediately follow at 12PM at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 211 Eagle St., Medina. Full military honors will be accorded at graveside in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
