Starlin Williams Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Westside Funeral Home - Palmetto on Feb. 12, 2026.
Starlin "LeRon" Williams was born in Bradenton to Henry Lawrence and Altemease Williams-Edwards
LeRon was educated in the Manatee County Public School system, and was a graduate of Southeast High School Class of 1994. During high school, LeRon was a stellar athlete who excelled in basketball. His basketball accomplishments are both numerous and legendary at Southeast High School. His exploits on the hardwood culminated with him being named the State of Florida "Mr. Basketball in 1994!" During his senior year at Southeast, LeRon was recruited by almost every Division 1 basketball team in the country. In addition, LeRon is a member of the Southeast High School Hall of Fame.
Upon graduating high school, LeRon attended the University of Florida on a basketball scholarship. As a Sophomore for the Gators, he averaged an impressive 10 points and 6 rebounds per game. After two years at the University of Florida, he transferred to the University of South Carolina where he completed his collegiate basketball career. After college, LeRon maintained a passion for the game and spent several seasons in professional basketball leagues overseas.
Basketball was only a small part of LeRon's Life's Journey. He loved his mother Altemease with all his heart and soul. During his life, Altemease and LeRon would share the trials and tribulations of life togeth er, and would always look to God when facing difficulties. LeRon also shared an unbreakable bond with his Aunt or Second Mom Rosetta Gordon (preceded in glory). She was proud to have the honor and privilege to see LeRon become a living-light to all those that had the pleasure to know him.
LeRon was well known in the community because of the joyful and loving-spirit he demonstrated wherever he went. He had an uncanny ability to display positivity in any of life situations and displayed boundless love and affection for his family and friends.
LeRon loved his family! At family gatherings, his mother, Aunt Rosetta and his sister Lavonnia would make whatever dish he enjoyed. Needless to say "Big Cuz" would definitely be the life of the party! His constant one-liners would keep a permanent smile on everyone's face.
LeRon had a strong faith in God. When he began to experience physical difficulties, he stated many times "What a beautiful day God has given me." LeRon displayed a loving-light that is seldom seen in today's world.
Even though Leron was an only child, he was blessed to receive love from a large family tree. He is survived by his mother Altemease (John) and his father Henry Lawrence. His siblings in love and spirit are Lavonnia Brown (Vernard), Renardo Bundrage and Andrea Dawsey.
As a father, LeRon leaves a legacy of love to his three children: Dyron Williams, Eric Williams, and Zaydria Gibson.
The Williams-Edwards family would like to thank everyone for their kind words and condolences. Special thanks to his lifelong friends/brothers: Omar Edwards, Terry Green, John Reaves, Stefan Ward, Nate Simmons and Greg Washington.
LeRon leaves behind a host of family members and friends who loved and admired him. A beautiful soul has returned to the Father and I know he is truly pleased. Amen
