Starra Sherin, 52, passed away on Friday May 30, 2025, at her home in Greenwich New York.

Born on November 16, 1972, in Glens Falls, she was the daughter of Jeffery and Sally (Gilmore) Cahan.

She is survived by husband David; her children, Abigail (Obi) Steffen, Zion Sherin, and Micah Sherin; her sister, Kimberly (Bob) Carr, her brothers Joel (Stacey) Cahan and Levi Cahan; her parents Jeffery and Sally Cahan, and 15 nieces and nephews and 10 great-nieces and great - nephews.

Starra graduated with a BA and MBA from Union College, Phi Beta Kappa. Starra was a CPA and her last position was a Chief Tax and Compliance Officer for EZ TaxReturn, an on-line tax submission service. Additionally, she was an Adjunct Professor at SUNYEmpire. Starra was also an accomplished dancer and choreographer whose heart was to dance before the Lord. She homeschooled her 3 children through high school, and poured into the lives of many other children by teaching dance and movement lessons for over 20 years. Everything Starra did was done with excellence unto her Lord Jesus Christ.

Her family would like to thank Dr. Makenzi Evangelist and Christine Roe NP of NYOH, Dr. Justin Gainor of Mass General Hospital, Community Hospice, and all the medical staff that treated Starra, for the incredible care and medical expertise that they provided her. Her family would also like to thank those of New Covenant Community Church, and the countless others, for their intercessory prayers and support.

A visitation period from 6-7 p.m. followed by a worship service will be held at New Covenant Community Church, 158 Windy Hill Rd, Greenwich, NY on Monday June 2nd and a burial service on Tuesday June 3rd at 11 a.m., also at New Covenant Community Church.
