Stella Jean Abbott was born May 29, 1941, and departed this life Sunday, October 19, 2025, reaching the age of 84 years. She was the daughter of the late Estil and Gertie (Slagle) Upchurch.

On September 7th, 1963, at Immanuel Baptist Church, she married her husband, Robert (who called her "Sugar"); Robert preceded her death and has been waiting on his Sugar.

She is survived by: her sister-in-law, Phyllis Upchurch; numerous nieces and nephews; a special friend, Trenda Denney; along with a host of family and friends who mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by: two brothers, Norman Upchurch and Bill Upchurch; one sister, Gladys Whorton; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy & Christine Abbott, Ralph & Hazel Abbott, and Myrtie Parsley.

She was a member of First Methodist Church and was the oldest living member.

Stella was not only an aunt but a second mother to all her nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 24, 2025, between 11 am – 1 pm at First Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 24, 2025, at 1 pm at the First Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Elk Spring Cemetery.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to: Alzheimer's Association or First Methodist Church.
