Stella Bisbing

Stella Bisbing, age 91, a resident of the Taylor Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Taylor and formerly of Old Forge, passed away early Thursday morning. She was preceded in death by her husband, George M. Bisbing, who died on February 27, 1997. They were married for 59 years.Born on March 5, 1918, in Old Forge, daughter of the late Paul and Maria Metrowsky, Stella settled at the T.N.H. 1 and 1/2 years ago. She was educated in Old Forge Schools and before her retirement, she was employed in the garment industry. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hughestown.Her favorite pasttime was gardening and she always loved cooking and baking for her family. She also enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City and her yearly vacations to Florida with her late husband.Surviving is her daughter, Vivian Bonewicz of Old Forge, two grandchildren; Lynn Rachkowski and her husband Richard of Harding and Lisa Belotti of Pittston, four great-grandchildren; Amylynn and Gerard Belotti, III, and Lauren and Richard Kyle Rachkowski, four great-great grandchildren; Tabitha Cramer, Angelina Belotti, Anastasia and Kenneth Coolbaugh, her brother Joseph Metrowsky and wife Barbara of Romulus, New York, and several nieces and nephews.She was also preceded in death by an infant son, George, Jr., two sisters; Mary Drank and Helen Rubel, brothers; Edward, Paul, and Nicholas Metrowsky and her beloved Rottweiller, "Jasper", who passed away in February. Funeral services to be conducted by Rev. David R. Heckler, Pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Hughestown, will be Monday at 10:00 A.M. in the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, Inc., 517 North Main Street, Old Forge.Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.Relatives and friends may pay their respects on Sunday between 4-7PM at the funeral home.
