Millinocket – Stella Deschaine, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Stella was born in Ft. Kent on March 22, 1932, the daughter Remie and Laura (Charette) Levesque.
During Stella's childhood, she grew up in Eagle Lake. She met Arnold Deshaine and was married on September 12, 1949. In 1955, her and Arnold relocated to Millinocket and Stella took on one of the most important jobs in the world, being a stay-at-home mom to her children. She loved the time she was able to spend with her children while raising them.
One thing Stella loved to do in her early years was fish. You could find her in the spring with one of her friends, being dropped off on the side of the interstate with her fishing rod in hand, hiking through the woods to some of her favorite fishing spots. In addition to fishing, she enjoyed being a seamstress, making many outfits for her children that they still talk about today. She was an avid crafter, who attended many of craft fairs, enjoyed cooking loved her animals and always had to have one of her dogs with her wherever she went.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Arnold Deshaine; her brothers, Antonio Levesque, Sylvio Levesque, Ronaldo Levesque, Herby Levesque and Harold Levesque; sisters, Ludivine Hibbard and Rella Deschaine; grandchildren, Andrew Deschaine and Justin Deschaine.
She is survived by her children, Dana and Nora Deshaine and their children, Dawn, Diane, Dana Jr., Shonya and Shelley, Ervin and Sandy Deschaine and their children, David Owen, David Ervin, Daniel, and Kristie, Brenton and Karen Deschaine and their children, Brent, Gary and Jack, Beverly and Chester Pelkey and their children, Jaseon, Lisa and Kevin, Debra and Joe Lynch and their children, Joshua and Matthew, Philip and Lori Deschaine and their children, Anthony and Nathan and many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby St, Millinocket, ME at 11AM on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Immediately following services, burial will take place at Millinocket cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Stearns assisted living, especially Laurie and Beacon hospice (Jessica) for their care and compassion during the period of declining health of Stella.
