Stella "Sally" Liwen

1921 - 2023

Stella "Sally" Liwen, age 101, passed away on April 9, 2023 at the Avon Health Center, Avon. Stella was born on October 27, 1921, in Southington and was the daughter of the late Michael and Pearl Liwen of Plainville. She grew up in Plainville with her three sisters, the late Irene Pearson, Olga Kuszik, and Helen Becker. After graduating from Plainville High School, she worked for 42 years at the Trumbull/General Electric Plant, in Plainville before retiring. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church in New Britain. Stella was a very avid crafter and was proud of her drawings and paintings, which she loved to share with family and friends. Sally lived many happy years in Farmington with her sister Helen. She was an amazing person and a thoughtful and loving aunt. Aunt Sally is survived by nieces and nephews and their families. Her family wishes to thank the devoted staff of Avon Health Center for the wonderful care of Aunt Sally. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday, April 18, 2023, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am at the Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 305 Washington St., New Britain. Her funeral service will follow at 10:00 am at the church. She will be laid to rest beside her parents in Holy Trinity Orthodox Cemetery, New Britain.
