Stephanie Anne Walsh, 69, of Poughkeepsie passed away at Vassar Brothers Medical Center on June 21, 2025. Stephanie was born to Felix and Leokadia Sowul on May 9, 1956 and spent her early childhood years in Tivoli, NY before moving to Poughkeepsie. Stephanie graduated from Roy C. Ketcham High School in 1974 and went on to receive an Associate's Degree as a Medical Assistant from Dutchess Community College. On October 23, 1982, at St. Joseph's Church in Poughkeepsie, Stephanie married the love of her life, David K. Walsh. Stephanie worked as a Medical Assistant for multiple local neurosurgeons including Dr. Weiss and Dr. Goodman. She also went on to work as an OR scheduler at Vassar Brothers Hospital. She was a local resident all her life and a member of St. Martin de Porres Church. The most important things in Stephanie's life were her family and her beloved grandkids. The feeling of warmth and support she gave to those around her was immeasurable, and her sense of humor left a lasting impression on all those she met. Stephanie is survived by her husband of over 40 years, David, at home in Poughkeepsie, her son and daughter-in-law Brian and Kerri Walsh of Poughkeepsie, her daughter and son-in-law Jillian and Michael Compton of Hyde Park, her treasured grandchildren Kienan, McKenna and Logan, her sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Dan Elderkin of Staatsburg, her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Donna Sowul of Chelsea and 9 nieces and nephews. Calling Hours will be held on Wednesday, June 25 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30am on Thursday, June 26 at St. Martin de Porres Church on Cedar Valley Road Poughkeepsie, New York 12603. Burial will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, New York. Memorial donations can be made in Stephanie's name to Hospice of Dutchess County, 374 Violet Avenue Poughkeepsie, New York 12601.
