Stephen E. Ambrose

Thank you for sharing a part of your life with us.

Stephen E. Ambrose was truly an amazing person with so much talent the loss is clearly ours. Prayers fill our hearts and burst forth from our mouths to God asking him to let us remember clearly the love we have for this wonderful person gone from our lives never forgetting the joy we shared. Hebrews 6:10.

A gracious and respectable person whose work has done so much to bring so much joy to many of us in these troubled times hard to deal with (2 Tim 3:1). Perhaps more will continue to have positive experiences from a wonderful work that has had an impactful contribution to life and its anxieties.

I send the Ambrose family my deepest condolences.



I first became familiar with Dr. Ambrose as an undergraduate at Bridgewater State College. While taking a course of U.S. Foreign Policy since 1914, a classmate strongly recommended that I read Dr. Ambrose's "Eisenhower"; I did, and I was immediately hooked. I was even more impressed by "Nixon," in which he did a marvellous job of telling the story of a complex man in a manner that was objective, compelling, and fair. As a teacher, I've been pleased to use "Character above All" and "Biography of America" in my classroom; he played an significant part in each of these videos.



Dr. Ambrose was an academic historian who successfully reached the masses. If only more historians could do this so well! Thanks to his large body of work, his contributions will not be forgotten.

My sincerest sympathy on your staggering loss. In my life, Stephen Ambrose is a towering figure, although I never met him....Through his books, I feel I knew him. I challenge myself daily as a middle school American history teacher to instill in my students the love of America that resonates through Mr. Ambrose's books. I shall miss him and the many stories he had yet to write. But each time I pick up one of his books for a re-read, I shall say a prayer for you all.

So sorry to hear of your husband's/father's death. He has touched us all in so many ways. I knew Barry from McMain Magnet school back in the 70's and have followed Dr. Ambrose through his books. Peace to you all.

I am so sorry for your loss.



I never had Dr. Ambrose as a teacher

at UNO but would always see him in

the halls as I was coming to and from my history classes. He would always

have a warm smile and a wave.

He was always very approachable.
