Stephen M. Chase

Stephen "Steve" Matthew Chase, 73, of York, PA, passed away on January 11, 2026. Born on September 17, 1952, in Johnstown, PA. Steve graduated from Conemaugh Valley High in 1970. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Clarion University in 1974 and went on to become a certified purchasing manager. He dedicated over 40 years to Magnesita Refractories Company, retiring as Manager of Procurement. Steve was passionate about golf and coaching football and baseball. He played football throughout high school, college, and at the semi-professional level. He enjoyed cooking and frequently experimented with new recipes. A lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan, he cherished time with his family and friends, earning the affectionate nickname "Pop Pop" as a grandfather. He took great joy in watching his grandsons grow and thrive on the sports field.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Alicia Randolph Chase of York, PA; son Bryan Randolph Chase and daughter-in-law Marisa Valentine of Olney, MD; grandsons, Tysen and Bryce Chase; sister Jacqueline Chase of Upper Marlboro, MD; sister-in-law Tracy Calhoun Chase of Sachse, TX; nephew Matthew James Chase and wife Keisha of Forney, TX; niece Camille Nicole Chase; great-niece McKinley Chase; great-nephew Myles Chase; devoted sister-in-law Eraina Randolph and numerous family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James Matthew and Edith Bernice Chase of Johnstown, PA, and his brother Bruce Alfred Chase of Sachse, TX.
