Stephen Diduch Obituary

Published by Legacy on Feb. 17, 2026.
Steve Diduch passed away peacefully at his home on February 12th. Steve was born on May 8, 1933 in Illinois. Upon his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served in Korea during the Korean War. During that time, he saw combat on a regular basis. After his tour in Korea, Steve left the Marines and enlisted in the United State Army. Where he continued to serve his country with honor. He spent several years in the infantry and then, as a warrant officer, he served in Vietnam, during the war, as a polygraph examiner. During his time in the Army, he was awarded The Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit. Upon his retirement, Steve went right back to work, serving his country as a civilian. He served in several capacities in his career including some time as an inspector for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, inspecting nuclear reactors all over the country. He retired from Government Service as a GS-15. Soon after he retired, Steve moved to Corry, Pennsylvania, and quickly made it his home. He jumped into Community service with both feet. He donated his time selflessly in many ways. Two of them in particular were by visiting classes at local schools to teach students about the polygraph and share his personal history; and also, by doing the taxes of local senior citizens at no cost. While living in Corry, Steve was active in some of the local lodges. At the Corry Veterans of Foreign Wars Lt Archie W. Thompson Post 264, he found his home away from home. He spent much of his time there, with his comrades. He served there in many different capacities, including several years as the Quartermaster and as a proud member of the Honor Guard, as well. He was Post Commander 2008-2009. He was also at home at the Corry Moose Lodge #98. During his years there, he wore many hats, as usual. He was the Treasurer, and also worked as the administrator. He attained his Fellowship Degree of Service in the Moose Legion. On top of which, he could often be found on the dance floor dancing to the band music. In 2022, Steve left Corry and moved to Kansas City, Missouri to be closer to his son, David and his family. Of the many different titles he had in his life, Grandpa was his absolute favorite. Steve was preceded in death by his wife, Elsie, and his daughter, Jane. He is survived by 2 sons, 3 daughters, 6 granddaughters, and 1 great granddaughter. Steve will be laid to rest in peace at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas. Arrangements By: Rollins Funeral Home-Platte City, MO-Ph. 816.858.2129. www.rollinsfuneralhome.net
