In memory of
Gail Kahn
January 3, 2024
Stephen was the manager at 2500 Peachtree Condominium. He was organized, efficient and I enjoyed our conversations and the opportunity I had to know him. I want to express my sympathy to his family and hope that you will find peace.
Regards,
Gail Kahn

Steve and I worked together at Wentworth Property Management / FirstService Residential from 2008 - 2013. He and I were on the road, at the airport and in the trenches together very frequently. Those of you who know Steve will attest to the fact that he is an opinionated guy. We had our share of arguments, which would cause his deep baritone voice to go even deeper. If there is ever a movie about Steve's life, I want Mike Rowe to play him... We always came out of our arguments better off because we were willing to exchange ideas. Without dissent there is no diversity of thought. Frequently our arguments ended with a friendly quip about the mental acuity of Marines vs. Airmen from one direction or the other. Good times...
Above all, I remember Steve as a pillar of ethics, which is becoming increasingly rare in our industry. We never once disagreed on an ethical discussion. His calm, measured and analytical approach to working through challenges is inspiring, and I saw it in action countless times in some very dicey situations. He is the consummate professional, and truly inspires confidence with Clients and co-workers.
Kacie, we never met, but I can tell you that Steve was immensely proud of you and spoke of you very frequently. I have a Daughter close to your age and can tell you from experience that a Father's love is unconditional and never dies... Eileen, Steve was truly a changed man after the two of you met - it was readily observable that you had a major positive impact on his life. To both of you and the rest of Steve's family, I am profoundly sorry for your loss.
Thank you Steve, for your service to our country, for the memories, and for making me a better person. You left us too soon, but I will look forward to hoisting a cold one with you in an airport bar on the other side...

One of my favorite memories of Stephen was when I learned he was sarcastic like I am. After that, it became the way we processed any negativity at work. Sometimes I make a certain facial expression when I'm trying not to laugh which inadvertently made Stephen laugh... during a time neither of us was supposed to laugh, lol.
