Stephen "Steve" Epling

Stephen (Steve) Eugene Epling passed away June 16, 2025. He was born July 30, 1947, in Huntington, West Virginia, to Ray Eustace Epling and Gladys Watts Epling. He was raised in Huntington, graduating high school there in 1965. Steve served his country in Vietnam as a soldier in the Army, receiving an honorable discharge. Returning to Huntington, he completed his studies at Marshall University receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business.
Most of Steve's career was spent in Columbus, Ohio, working as a salesman for Georgia Pacific's Chemical Division. There, he married Nancy Szlemko. They were blessed with a son, Bryan Jay Epling, born Sept 26, 1978. Steve thoroughly enjoyed being a father, and considered raising Bryan to be one of his greatest accomplishments.
Steve remarried and recently celebrated 25 years with his wife, Mary Letchas Epling. In 2015, Steve and Mary retired and moved to Ponte Vedra, to enjoy the beach and year round warm weather.
Steve loved his family, his dogs, and a good steak. A day at the beach was a favorite outing. He is survived by his wife, Mary; his son, Bryan; daughter-in law, LeAnne; and their daughters, Vida and Zoe; and his stepson, Rory; and Rory's daughters, Sierra, Peyton, Cecilia, Lori Anna, and Addyson.
Steve's Funeral Service will be held at Ponte Vedra Valley at 11AM on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.
