MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP, MI - Stephen Paul Grimes, age 60, of Marquette Township, entered eternal life Thursday, November 17, 2022, at UP Health System - Marquette.
Steve was born October 2, 1962, in Marquette, a son of Robert and Mary (Schwemin) Grimes and was raised in the Harvey area on Ortman Road. He graduated from Marquette Senior High School in 1980 and began his working career as a plumber-carpenter by on-the-job training. Throughout the years, Steve was employed with Feltner Plumbing and Heating, Swick Home Services, and currently with Marquette Kitchen and Bath. Steve loved life and loved to laugh. Some of his favorite pursuits included fishing in the Bass Masters Fishing Derby, formed by a group of friends at a camp party who enjoyed fishing and partying, NASCAR, snowmobiling, spending time with his dogs, and flying drones with his good friend, Rick Boyle. Steve also enjoyed sitting on his deck and feeding the deer that frequented his yard, so tame they practically ate out of his hand.
Steve is survived by his father, Robert "Bob" Grimes; his sister, Cheryl (George) Cowell; brothers, Robert "Scot" (Anne) Grimes and Dean (Shelly) Grimes; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Grimes; and his life companion, Jackie Gobert.
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Louis the King Catholic Church on Wednesday, November 23, beginning at 9:00 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am with Rev. Daniel Fosu as celebrant, concelebrated by Rev. Glenn Theoret, and assisted by Deacon Bill McKnight. A reception will follow in Father Gauthier Hall. Spring interment will be made in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
