Stephen Franklin Hanold, 67 of Albany, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Albany General Hospital. Steve was born June 7, 1945 in Stillwater, Oklahoma, to Lois Ruth Hanold and Charles Franklin Hanold. Steve attended grade school in Stillwater, Oklahoma, graduated from Tolt High School in Carnation, Washington and graduated from Northwest Bible College with a Masters in Theology and Religion. Steve was raised in Oklahoma through 8th grade and moved to Duvall, WA with his family in 1959. He was drafted to the Army and fought the front lines in the Vietnam War from May of 1966 to May of 1968. Sergeant Stephen F. Hanold was a Combat Infantryman and Sharpshooter in the Vietnam War. Decorations, medals and honors he received were the following: Combat Infantryman Badge, Sharpshooter Badge (rifle), National Defense Service Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal. Steve was also awarded Veteran of the Year in Albany in 1982. Steve and his wife and children moved from Washington to Albany, Oregon in 1982. Steve pastored at Stillwater Hill Church in Duvall, Washington for 10 years, was the Bible teacher at Santiam Christian School for 8 years and officiated high school and college volleyball, basketball and softball. Steve and his wife Billie were married for 48 years. Survivors include his wife, Billie Hanold; children, Linnea Baker and husband Jonathan, David F. Hanold, and Stephen P. Hanold and wife Mikaila; four grandchildren, Cole and Noah Baker and Jordan and Peyton Hanold; and Steve's two sisters, Francina Foster and Elizabeth Jo Atwood. A funeral service with full military honors will take place at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR on Thursday, May 16th at 11:00am.
