Stephen Jay (aka Jatovsky), z"l passed away peacefully on August 29 at the age of ninety-four surrounded by family in the home he shared with his wife of over twenty-years, Robyn Treinish.

Stephen was born July 17, 1931, the only child of David and Anna Jatovsky (nee' Soloway) in the Bronx and was raised in Queens. Stephen was an exceptional pianist and music educator whose fifty-year career began at The Manhattan School of Music and finished as Dean of Philadelphia College of Performing Arts at UArts. He was a beloved mentor and teacher to generations of conservatory students.

Stephen is survived by his wife Robyn, three of his four children, Daniel, Naomi (Trudi), and Matthew from his wife of fifty years, Margo, z"l, and two grandchildren, Rachel and Elijah. Their son Ronald died in 1978 while serving in the Israeli army. He is also survived by Robyn's children, Betsy, Lauren (Tom), Dan (Liz); three grandchildren, Jake, Leah, and Nadia; and three great-grandchildren.

Dear family of Steve, I worked for Steve for many years at The University of the Arts as his secretary. He was a wonderful, giving, caring man. A class act. He was humble, compassionate and I will cherish my memories of him. Rest in peace Steve, Il always love you. Tina Condo
