I pray for the family, that Stephen Lefkowitz is in Heaven and being blessed for his good deeds as a father, husband, and activist, and also for the rest of the victims of the September 11th attacks and their families.

Received Stephen's name this 9/11/11 anniversary at the San Francisco Giants' memorial at AT&T Park in San Francisco. I was proud to hold his name card in a "We will never forget" ceremony. I held his name high during a moment of silence at the singing of the Star Spangled Banner before the game and at the 7th inning stretch during the singing of God Bless America. We will always remember and honor Stephen and all those who lost their lives ten years ago.

More than a friend, more than a brother. A real human being and a credit to humanity. I miss him greatly, but he will live on in my memory forever.

I knew Steve as a student at Baruch College in the 1970's. He was a calm collected person who was always willing to serve as a Go between to solve arguments between friends. It is not surprising that he served as a mediator in later life since he always seemed to be the voice of reason. I lost contact with him after school but always remembered him, since he had a positive impact on me when I was a young adult.

I met him once in the 1990's at a party in NYC, at the time he was working in Albany. It was great to see him again, who knew that this was the last time. So terrorism came into my life, I would never have thought a friend of mine would have been killed in this way, or be killed in any way.

In his short 50 years he did things others would be proud to do..serving as a big brother, adopting a child, being a leader and a mensch. Here on this day 9/11/11 it is ten years since he died, but his memory should remain in everyone's heart forever.

To the family of Stephen Paul Lefkowitz,

I sang in the Columbus, Ohio performance of the Mozart Requiem, also called the "Rolling Requiem", on September 11, 2002. I wore a heart badge in memory of Stephen. I was one of 17,000 singers worldwide who participated in this event to honor those who died on this date last year. I was honored to wear his name on my heart. May his name be a blessed memory always.--Amy Nathans, Columbus, Ohio

At my school, St. Pius X, we were given wrist bands with the name of someone who died on September 11 on it. Stephen Lefkowitz is the name on my wrist band. I want everyone to know that I am praying for and thinking about Mr.Lefkowitz's family and friends. My heart goes out to you, and everyone at my school cares and prays for you every day. May God bless you and keep you safe.

America Cries

We see your sorrow-

and our hearts cry....

We can not erase your pain

but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-

-the American people-

are beside you.

We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,

the strength that gives you courage,

and the words to lighten your spirits.

And when we are left speechless

may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts

to ease your sorrow.

May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-

-the American people-

face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
