Stephen C. Lemanski, 86, of Spotswood, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, January 13, 2022.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Steve settled in Spotswood in 1984. He served in the United States Army from 1954 until 1956 and was stationed in Japan. On returning home from the service, he went on to work with Public Service Electric and Gas Company as a Lineman. Steve retired in 1993 after 37 years with the company. He was a long time communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Spotswood. Steve enjoyed hunting, trout fishing and horses, including riding English saddle style. During his high school years, he was an accomplished fencer.
Together with his wife, he enjoyed traveling throughout the western United States and Scotland, where he enjoyed tours of various breweries and single malt distilleries. He was a history buff, an avid reader and he enjoyed watching Jeopardy and old classic western movies on TV. He also spent many mornings enjoying breakfast with his old work buddies in Spring Lake. But above all else, Steve was a loving husband, father and grandfather and his family, who will miss him dearly, was everything to him.
Predeceased by his brother Edward J. Lemanski, he is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Betty Lemanski; his children Lisa Malachowski and her husband Robert, Linda Vitale and her husband Michael, Stephen J. Lemanski, Donna Doran and her husband Anthony, Joyce Lazar and Sharon Drumetski and her husband Leonard, and; his grandchildren Kevin, Courtney, Kyle, Fiona, Leonard Jr, Justin, Zachary and Jillian.
Cremation was private. A Celebration of Steve's Life will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2022 at Spotswood Funeral Home from 10:00 AM to 12 PM.
