Stephen Austin Lynch, age 25 of the Petersburg area of Moore County, passed away unexpectedly on July 4, 2025, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He was born on August 5, 1999, in Fayetteville to Christopher Lynch and Clarissa McPeak Randolph. Stephen was a 2017 class graduate of Moore County High School, where he played football, and he was currently employed by Cooper Steel as a welder. He attended County Line Baptist Church. Stephen enjoyed being outdoors and playing cornhole with his friends. But of all he treasured the time he spent his wife and son. Stephen is preceded in death by his grandfather, Dwight McPeak and great-grandparents, Henry and Alice Lynch, and Leonard and Bernice Burks. He is survived by his wife, Emily Lynch; son, Henry Leighton Lynch; parents, Chris and Brenda Lynch and Clarissa and Johnny Randolph; grandparents, Emma Simmons, Jimmy Lynch Sr. and Patsy McPeak; sister, Jani (Zach) Bobo; brother, J.D. Randolph; father and mother–in–law, Paul and Nell Green. He is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 5:00pm – 8:00pm at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home and then again on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 11:00am – 2:00pm with funeral service following at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at County Line Cemetery with Travis Throneberry, Ryan Green, Dustin Ward, Justin Youngblood, John M. Crick, Zach Bobo, Brad Helton and J.D Randolph all serving as pallbearers. Zachary Millsaps, Hunter Trott and Benjie Trott will be serving as honorary pallbearers.
