Stephen Macrone Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by John J. Bryers Funeral Home - Willow Grove on Apr. 7, 2024.
Stephen James Macrone, so very loved by his family and friends, peacefully entered eternal life on April 3, 2024. He was 67 years young. Stephen was born on November 16, 1956 and was raised in Hatboro. He was preceded in death by his parents, BG Pasquale Macrone, Jr. and Anita Macrone (Nahrgang).
Stephen's love for his friends and family will live on in the hearts of every life that he touched. He is survived by his adoring wife of 42 years, Andrea Macrone (Szymanski), and his darling daughters Valerie Schoepe and Victoria "Tori" Macrone, his son-in-law, Robert Schoepe, and Tori's boyfriend, Matt Perel. He is affectionately known as Pop-pop to his beloved grandchildren, Sophia (Little Darling) and Luke (Mr. Luke) Schoepe. He was a wonderful brother to his siblings, Deborah Graziano, Bruce Macrone, Michael Macrone, Christopher Macrone, Susan Macrone, and Mark Macrone, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He proudly served his Country in the Military Police as part of the Army Reserves for 29 years. He actively served time in Fort Drum, NY. His unit replaced the 10th Mountain Division, who were deployed to Afghanistan immediately after 9/11. He retired as Sergeant First Class. He simultaneously worked at the Willow Grove Post Office for 32 years. He enjoyed daily interactions with the entire community and got to know so many people, all of whom valued Stephen's outgoing and altruistic personality. Stephen had the uncanny ability to connect with people in a profound and personal way, which often resulted in people saying, "there is no one quite like Stephen."
Stephen was an avid learner, and voracious reader, which made him a true Renaissance Man. Stephen took such great joy in researching his family's and other families' genealogies, playing the drums and harmonica, listening to music, especially the Beatles, going to concerts, taking pictures, visiting historic places, telling stories about his crazy adventures, watching the Phillies and Eagles, reading books and teaching others about American History, George Washington, Italy, and Michelangelo. He enjoyed brewing beer and going to the range with his son-in-law, baking pizzelles and Italian Easter bread, being Valerie's handyman, traveling to Arizona, Rome, and most recently to Gettysburg with his wife.
Most importantly, Stephen's greatest joy was his family and he always put them first. His immense love for them was illustrated by his kind actions - favors big and small - wanting to help them in any way he could. Unknowingly, his last holiday, Easter, was spent with the people he loved. He watched his grandkids hunt for eggs, during which Pop-pop placed a toy snake in an egg that he secretly planted for his Mr. Luke to find. Stephen also prepared the most delicious 8lb. prime rib just so Matt would have something kosher to eat. He valued and loved each and every minute spent with his wife, daughters, grandchildren, and the rest of his family. Because of that precious time, certainly not nearly enough, Stephen gave us so many wonderful memories that will live in our hearts forever.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Friday May 10, 2024 from 10am to 10:45am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 611 Knowles Ave, Southampton, PA 18966. Funeral Mass to follow at 11am.
Interment is private at this time. In lieu of flowers donations to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.org
