Stephen McLaughlin Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Quinn Funeral Home - Warwick on Mar. 2, 2026.
Stephen R. McLaughlin, a U.S. Army Vietnam War Veteran, passed away the morning of Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was 75 years of age. Born in Providence, he was the ninth of eleven children born to the late Charles A. and Adeline R. (Hammond) McLaughlin. Stephen was the brother of Mary Kinsey, James R. McLaughlin, Robert A. McLaughlin, Arline Oakley and the late Charles A. McLaughlin, Jr., Florence Tambini, William E. McLaughlin, Joan Cavanaugh, Veronica Olson and Thomas R. McLaughlin. He is also survived by more than 30 nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Never one to stay idle, Stephen enjoyed spending time outdoors. In his younger years, he loved to golf, fish, snowmobile, watch NASCAR and travel with his friends to watch boxing matches. As one of eleven children, his extended family was large and he was happiest when surrounded by all of them. He was very close to his nieces and nephews and was a constant figure at all of their sporting events and performances. His kind and generous spirit will be missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love him.

Stephen will be laid to rest with full military honors on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 10am in the RI Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 301 S. County Trail, Exeter. Attending guests are asked to meet outside the Cemetery Administration Building at 9:45am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 7312, Warwick, RI 02886 are greatly appreciated.
