My sister sent me the link to Steve's obituary the other day because she recognized his picture. after reading that Steve and his wife had opened Creekside Cottage Winery she realized that he was same person we had met while taking a trip down to Atwood lake. on our trip back to Canton we came apon Creekside. the road heading north had been closed due to construction . we had been looking for a place to eat and get an adult beverage and the winery was like an oasis we had stumbled upon. this was April of 2021 and at that time there still wasn't many places that were open because of the pandemic. we had such a good time sitting on the back patio sipping our wine, but we had a great time talking with him before we went outside to enjoy an early spring afternoon. not knowing his full name at the time it didn't occur to me until now,but in 1979 or 1980 I worked with a Steve Miller at Montgomery Ward auto center. had I know on that April afternoon his last name I would surely have brought up the fact we worked together briefly, but in that short time Steve worked at Montgomery Ward he made an impact because of the way he got along with people and co workers. he always had a smile and a great laugh.they say life is a big circle and even as I read about his life,I can see that he impacted many people along his short journey. we tried to go back with my wife, sisters and brother in law last year to the winery to find out sadly it wasn't open. after finding out why has left us even sadder.
