Stephen "Steve" Lynn Morgan, 73
Stephen "Steve" Lynn Morgan passed away on July 5, 2024. He was born on June 16, 1951 in Blossburg, Pennsylvania. A resident of Okeechobee for 46 years, he was a member of the Florida Flywheelers. He enjoyed restoring antique collectibles, traveling, watching his grandchildren play sports, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
Steve and his wife, Wanda, founded Morgan's Furniture, where they worked side by side in retail for 21 years. After a brief retirement spent traveling, they opened The Downtown Venue, a popular location for hosting events. Steve was also an avid member of the Florida Flywheelers, where he could often be seen enjoying time on his tractors, exploring the flea market for hidden treasures or watching the tractor parade with his family under the porch of his Gulf Gas Station.
In addition to his love for antique tractors, Steve enjoyed spending summers in Pennsylvania, creating cherished memories with his family on "the hill." He was a loving husband, devoted father, and adoring "Gramps" whose grandchildren meant the world to him. He was always there to support them in their various activities and events.
Steve was known for his strong work ethic, his kindness, and his generosity. He never expected anything in return for his help and was always willing to lend a hand or teach others. He saw the good in everyone he met and valued trust, loyalty, and hard work-traits he instilled in his family and friends.
Steve will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love, generosity, and dedication will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Audley and Lillian Morgan; brothers, James Audley Morgan and Michael Morgan; sisters, Kathie Morgan Riley and Cynthia Crouch; and brothers-in-law, Jack Repass, Claude Poirier, David Lunsford. Jr., William Lewis, Thomas Riley, and Samuel Crouch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Wanda Morgan, of Okeechobee, Fl; son Wayne Morgan (Kristi), of Okeechobee, Fl; daughter, Christina Piper (Chuck), of Okeechobee, Fl; grandchildren, Mason Piper, Brynn Morgan, Blake Morgan, all of Okeechobee; brother, Gordon Morgan (Malissa), of Okeechobee, Fl; sisters, Wanda Arnold (Curtis), of Jefferson, NC, Sharon Poirier, of Okeechobee, Fl, and Linda Weir (Don), of Okeechobee, Fl; sister in laws, Brenda Medders, of Winter Haven, Fl and Brenda Repass, of Broad Run, Va; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 2 p.m. until service at 3 p.m. on July 11, 2024 at Buxton and Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the Downtown Venue 120 SW 7th Ave. Okeechobee, Fl 34974. (Directly behind Morgan's Furniture). Matthew 5:4 Blessed are those who mourn, for they are comforted.
