Obituary
Stephen James Moyer, age 68 of Brooktondale, NY passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home.
Born August 2, 1954 in Ithaca, NY he was the son of Rodney Moyer and the late Barbara J. Dickens Moyer. Steve had been employed as a foreman with the City of Ithaca, a school bus driver with Ithaca City School District and was a driver for Weitsman Steel. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying anything that involved being outdoors. Yearly rendezvous camping and canoeing expeditions were a summer staple that highlighted his native American heritage. Steve was also an avid westerns fan whether it was movies, books, TV shows or music and he was a huge fan of John Wayne and Tarzan. He also loved animals, especially his dogs.
In addition to his father and stepmother, Rodney and Barbara Moyer, Steve is a loving and caring father to his children, Valari and Derrick Reed of West Virginia; Elijah and Zachary Moyer of Brooktondale; grandson, Anthony Reed; siblings, Tim Moyer, Janet Gerhardt and John Moyer; nieces, nephews and his four legged fur baby, Scrappy. In addition to his mother, Steve was predeceased by his nephew, Cody Moyer.
Family and friends may call from 11am – 12pm prior to a service at 12pm on Friday, April 28, 2023 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY. Burial will follow at East Lawn Cemetery, Ithaca, NY. Pastor Sheldon Craig will officiate. In honor of his love of animals, in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tompkins County SPCA, 1640 Hanshaw Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850.

Sorry to hear about Stephen. I went to school with Steve and was a great person. It is going to be a big loss for his family and friends. May his family remember the memories that they can cherish. May God keep them safe and together.
