Charlotte, I am so sorry to hear about Steve. I know he got to spend his finest years with you, John and Sarah. The love and care you gave him the last five years made such a wonderful difference in his life. Steve had a great sense of humor and I hope only the funniest and best memories come to comfort you. Love Lisa Fortenberry

Steve "Big Bird" Peacock...met him and Charlotte at Northside Elementary School to a Crossover Ceremony for John, going from Cub-scouts to Boy Scouts. Steve was a quiet soul, observing what was going on, without saying much. I asked him why he was called Big Bird and he stood up! He indeed was tall! Then he said Peacock...big bird? And I busted out laughing, finally making the connection!
I was asked if I would consider starting a Scout Troop again and indeed started a new troop. Our affiliation grew with a New troop. He would come to our Campouts with a mess of Deer Sausage, which I dearly miss! He confided in me that the summer heat suffered him and I told him that he didn´t have to come, but could visit when the sun went down. And other adults could pitch in. He would invite me to go to his hunting club, which I did. We went where there were wild hogs making a mess of the land...and he would stop and say "watch out Mr. R, they are running!" I heard nothing, then laughed and said, I guess you hear pretty good from way up there! I invited Steve to church and he and the family came. Small church, great fellowship. We even did a skit called "The Great Fandini" and folks sure did laugh! I recall Steve accepting Christ as his savior in our small church.
Steve was supportive of his family and associations. I miss his soft spoken ways, but rejoice that he had received Christ. RIP my friend. Prayers for Charlotte, Sarah and John as well as the rest of your family and friends.

Charlotte, You were the best wife to Steve he ever could have hoped for. You were caring, loving, attentive, kind, thoughtful, compassionate, and encouraging. We will miss Steve greatly, but there will be no regrets. I have never seen anyone who was a more wonderful caregiver. I love you my precious friend. Praying for all your family.
