Family Tribute ~

Born in Wisconsin, Stephen had a very active childhood, moving to many different states. He lived in Elmira, New York for much of his childhood, and his family moved to Trenton, Michigan when he was 13. During his high school years, he wrestled for Trenton and was All-State Champion 4 years in a row, and an honor roll student. He got a full ride to University of Michigan Ann Arbor. He started working as young as 14 as a caddy for the Grosse Ile Country Club, cleaning stadiums and exciting odd jobs during his teen adolescent years. In the summer, he worked at daycares. His memory of college was being roommates and friends with the Steiner brothers, enjoying his college years as he studied engineering and history, and wanted to be a teacher.

Stephen was a great story teller who enjoyed fishing, scenic views with long drives, the beach, Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, a lefty that also had a talent in drawing, games such as Risk and Chess, and an all around strive for continuing education.

Stephen worked as a manager at Auto Zone and Rent-A-Center. He worked for Murray's, Allen Park Auto Care and many other mechanic shops.

Stephen was known for helping out anyone and everyone. He would give you the last dollar in his pocket. He spent much of his time with his grandkids doing various things and teaching them the things he could. He talked a lot about honor, always following through and to be rational. He had a complex intelligence with a widespread interest. There was never a rock that was not unturned. He was not a judgmental man. He was not big on material possessions and made time for anyone and everything. Stephen held himself well, as emotion was unnoticed. His spirit was quiet where sitting with him in silence could be comforting.

Stephen was a complete agitator. He loved to be amused and knew exactly which button to push while lightening the mood. He always knew what to say. Lots of memories of a man that was constantly present in your life. He was a patient man.

Stephen would want to be remembered for the advice he freely shared, his communication skills that he always would be a phone call or short drive away and the love he generously gave. The talking in third person will be a staple for our memories.
