Stephen Alexander Popyach, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2025, after a long illness. He was born in Bethlehem, PA, on March 18, 1935, to the late Alexander Standish and Julia Wargo Popyach. He is also preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Linda (Ransdell) Popyach; two nephews, Joseph (Becky) Piltman, Robert Piltman, both of Bethlehem, PA; a stepdaughter, Leslie (Thomas) Slone, of Campbellsburg, KY; a stepson, William (Amy) Mefford, Palm Bay, FL; six grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.
Stephen was in the U.S. Army, he worked on several projects with the Marine Corp. He developed weapons under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel George M. Chinn, of KY. Stephen was awarded 2 U.S. Pattents and was a published writer. Stephen was also a consultant for Tiffany & Company, and for Mercedes Benz. He had many accomplishments and will be missed by many.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Jacksonville Cemetery. Thomas Slone will lead his service, and Lt. Col. Stepanchuck will present the flag.
