I knew Steve since FSU. He saw my kids grow up in Austin since he first moved here in the late 70's. Was always an interesting storyteller - even in a crowd. At first glance listeners would think, "What is this old homeless guy talking about? Then the story would wind around to something inescapably engaging. Steve loved jokes and rarely had an unkind word. He always wanted to know what was going on in Tallahassee - where we both had friends. By now all his aquaintances and many of his students have passed on. He was a true artist in sentiment and sensibilities. I often purchased his visual art but it seemed that took a lot out of him and in his ageing prefered to write poetry. Here are some more of his works my family owns - mainly pastels. These were part of a show at Southwestern University around 1990.
