I still remember Dr. Renk's comments on a project I turned in for an assembly language project. He drew several red circles and arrows crossed out and then just had the words "too complex". He was a great teacher to me and others. He was very approachable and encouraging. He will be missed.

My Grandpa has been an inspiration in my lifetime. I truly think my grandpas legacy is something that is truly special and unique. We live in a world full of copies my grandpa was an original. I have watched nearly 100 Iowa football games with him. Every game was a different adventure. From throwing the football or just screaming at the TV. My Grandpa truly wanted to make others better, and has changed the world to be what it is today. I will never forget him, and I hope to share my kids one day about my Grandpa and his kindness and love! He was a real Renk man! Love you forever Grandpa!

Dr. Renk was a mentor to me during my time at North Central College and I'm saddened to hear of his passing. I first met him during a high school visit and went on to work closely with him during my undergrad as a member of the department's faculty hiring committee. I'm still reminded of Dr. Renk every time I see an Iowa bumper sticker and remember following Iowa sports for the sole purpose of avoiding a quiz if Iowa won. He was a champion of women in technology and academics and always encouraged me to challenge myself. I'm thankful for his guidance and for making learning Assembly at least somewhat enjoyable. The NCC community will miss you.

Many decades of friendship with Steve have graced me with a clear image of his walk, his gestures, his fashion sense and a clear recollection of his voice and laugh. Our conversations were often serious but just as often goofy. Such a sense of humor! What a great friend! And one I will miss always.

My grandpa will always have a special place in my heart. All of the Iowa football games I have got to experience and the moments that made me laugh, from yelling when the Hawkeyes score a touchdown or laughing when he would play with us or tell amazing stories, I truly love my Grandpa. He dedicated his whole life to others, and trying to make the world, smarter and a better place and I´m happy to say that he succeeded. My Grandpas legacy will always be remembered, and will surely be passed down by the Renk family future generations. He really showed what it meant to be a Renk man! Love you forever Grandpa!- Landon Renk
