Stephen A Rentfrow

Funeral services for Stephen "Steve" Allen Rentfrow, former General Manager for Crisp County Power Commission, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, March 28, 2025, in the chapel of Rainey Family Funeral Services with interment at Sunnyside Cemetery. The family will greet friends 2 hours prior to the service Friday beginning at 1:00 p.m. Steve passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Crisp Regional Hospital. A native of Cordele and member of Penia Baptist Church, he was the son of the late Allen Daniel Rentfrow Jr. and Bernice Estelle Clack Rentfrow. He was also preceded in death by a brother, C.W. Shirah, and a brother-in-law, Charles Thompson. Steve graduated Crisp County High School in 1971 as STAR Student and Valedictorian of his class. He graduated from Georgia Tech in 1975 with a BS in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, Steve worked with Duke Power Company in Charlotte, NC with the Nuclear Plant Design Group. He left Duke Power to work with the Georgia Power Company in Macon, GA with the Substation Engineering Department. Steve began working for Crisp County Power Commission in 1977 as an Engineer. He was promoted to General Manager of Crisp County Power in 1992, and served in that capacity until his retirement in 2020. Steve was a former board member of Electric Cities of Georgia. In 1994, he was elected as a member of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia Board of Directors. For the Georgia Board of Directors, Steve had served as Secretary/Treasurer and Vice-Chairman, and was currently representing Crisp County on the River Valley Regional Commission. Steve was a member of the Cordele/Crisp Chamber Board of Directors, a member and past President of the Cordele Lions Club, and a board member of the Directors of American Public Power Association. In 2022, Steve received the prestigious James D. Donovan Achievement Award from the American Public Power Association. Steve is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donna Childers Rentfrow; two children, Amber Hunt and her husband, Jeffrey and Brandon Rentfrow, all of Cordele; two brothers and their wives, Robert and June Rentfrow of Monroe and Mark and Monica Rentfrow of Cordele; a sister, Wynell Thompson of Marietta; a grandson, Henry Hunt; and several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to Penia Baptist Church, Cordele Lions Club, or a charity of your choice.
