Stephen Joseph Sacka

Stephen "Papa" Joseph Sacka, age 84, of Brooklyn, Michigan, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, December 15, 2025, at Regency in Jackson.

Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance on Sunday, December 21, 2025, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Eineder Funeral Homes – Brooklyn, MI Chapel, where a scripture service will begin at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday, December 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church in Clarklake, Michigan.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Rita's Catholic Church, with Fr. Bosco Padamattummal and Fr. Tom Helfich concelebrating.

Stephen was born on April 2, 1941, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Steve and Sophie (Zengota) Sacka. He graduated from Taylor High School in 1959 and later married the love of his life, Sharon Goulet, on May 16, 1969, in Garden City, Michigan.

Stephen dedicated 24 years of his career to Borman Foods (Farmer Jack), where he became the youngest manager at the time. He later spent 17 years with Warner Lambert (Pfizer), serving as Regional Manager in the grocery division until his retirement in 2000.

A devoted sports fan, Stephen enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers, Red Wings, Lions, and especially Michigan football. He also found great joy working outdoors, tending to his yard, planting flowers, and caring for his garden. One of Stephen's favorite pastimes was taking his son to hockey practices and games. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

Stephen will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who deeply cherished his family. He will also be fondly remembered by Jackson-area hockey players for his years of announcing games and for being the head cheerleader who proudly supported all Jackson-area hockey teams. He will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Stephen will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sharon Sacka; his children, Peggy Vermeulen, Shellie Davis, and Ronnie (Carolina) Sacka; his brothers, Robert (Judy) Sacka and Larry Hartz; his grandchild, Maggie (Brett) Bissett; Maria Jose, Juan and his great-grandchildren, Lyla, Rowdy, and Colt Bissett. He was preceded in death by his parents.
