Stephen R. Sampsell, age 41, passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by love on August 14, 2025. Born on June 21, 1984, Stephen was a proud graduate of Genoa High School, Class of 2002, where he excelled in golf, baseball, and basketball. His love for sports continued throughout his life, especially for the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Chiefs.

Stephen was known for his courageous spirit, kind heart, and generous nature. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a deep love for the outdoors. Whether he was playing poker with friends or working hard at Lake Erie Tree Service-a job he truly loved-Stephen brought joy and dedication to everything he did.

He is survived by his father, David R. (Joni) Sampsell; his mother, Tammy M. Perron; and his siblings: Nicole, Phillip, James, Jaclyn, Chad, Joe, and Brodie. Stephen also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and close friends who will miss him dearly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025, from 2–8 PM at Robinson-Walker Funeral Home, 501 W. Street, Genoa, OH. The funeral service will begin at 7 PM that evening. Visitation will continue Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10 AM, followed by a funeral procession at 11 AM to Clay Township Cemetery for the final committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to the Genoa High School Athletic Boosters, specifically to support the golf team-a sport Stephen loved and excelled in.

Stephen will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
