Stephen Schneider

My hero who educated hard headed deniers and explained everything where it could be understood.
Thank you sir, you're missed terribly and the world is now darker.

I just saw a lecture online by him at Cornell dated 2009 and was really impressed by the presentation - both in content and style. I googled him and found out that he passed away in 2010. I think we have lost a great champion for truth and fairness. My condolences.

I first saw Steve Schneider in Gothenburg, Sweden, just days before his death. He gave the best presentation to the World Sociological Congress - having received just hours notice that he was to talk that day. He was truly inspirational. Accidentally meeting this lovely man a few hours later in a cafe reinforced that view. My deepest sympathies go to his family and friends. This is a loss to the whole planet.

I am sorry for your loss, May the God who gives peace comfort you in your time of grief.

In memories to one of our greatest, thank you for caring enough to educate us,(the public) on global warming. May the family take comfort in their memories and may the hope from the Bible at Isaiah 26:19 and Luke 20:37, 38 sustain them.

I worked with Stephen Schneider at NCAR, U.S. Congress where I served as AAAS Fellow for the House Science Committee, at the NAS, and other venues from 1983-1995 when I became disabled with Multiple Sclerosis. I was on the UN Panel 1988 that eventually received the Nobel. I was deeply saddened to hear of Steve's death. The World has lost a Great Man who tried to inform and educate all of us about Global Warming. His work will be forever valueable for all to read, hopefully help others to follow his footsteps and save our planet before it is too late!

To the the family of Stephen Schneider - May God give you peace and comfort through his word and the Lord Jesus Christ during this time of sorrow, I know that Stephen will be missed by many.

I didn't know Stephen personally, but heard much about him and his work through his sister Liz and brother-in-law Mike who are close friends. This is such a terrible loss to the whole world. My heart goes out to all of his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Dr. Schneider. A climate warrior true to himself will be sorely missed by us fellow warriors. I will buy his book and treasure his knowledge within so that my grandson can someday know his vision. God Bless Stephen Schneider RIP

Mr. Schneider was a great man. We are blessed to have been associated with him. He was a very strong supporter of Red Dipper and Red Dipper Environmental as he attended the launch of Red Dipper Environmental. We are honored to have had been associated with a man who council 7 Presidents on Climate Change and actually won the Nobel Prize with Al Gore. You will be missed......

I have tears in my eyes. My deepest sympathy to the Schneider family and friends. Stephen inspired me more than any colleague I have known. We first met at the 1988 Toronto Conference on the Changing Atmosphere - a meeting he called the "Woodstock" of climate change. When I reminded him in 2007, he smiled and replied “I’d forgotten ... I did say that.” His bravery in facing professional and personal life challenges was so admirable. Our work together over the last number of years has really flourished in 2010. You will be sadly missed Steve ... but your inspiration continues. Jim

The world has lost a true climate hero. Dr. Schneider will be remembered for speaking the truth about climate change and working tirelessly to make the planet healthy for future generations.

This is a terrible loss for the climate change research community. He will be sorely missed.

Dr. Schneider's untimely death is a resounding loss for climate science. He was a tremendous mentor and inspiration, even to those of us who knew him only slightly. His rigorous approach to climate science, combined with his humility, good humor, pragmatism, and pugnaciousness were unrivaled.

Stephen had a rare ability to captivate policy-makers and academics alike, and he drew them into the climate protection community. He has a tremendous and important legacy.

This is a great loss for California and the planet. Professor Schneider had a profound effect on my life. After listening to only one of his talks I realized how serious climate change really is and became hyper aware of everything we are doing to kill our planet. He will be missed.

Having known Steve since 1973 and just seen him a few weeks ago, I feel the loss of the entire climate and energy policy community for such an honest fighter
