Stephen "Steve" Aron Smith, age 78, of Camden, TN passed away on Monday, May 26, 2025. Steve was born on February 9, 1947, in Camden, TN to the late Arch Smith and the late Edith Brown Smith. A graduate of Camden Central High School Class of 1965, he went on to serve his country through the Tennessee National Guard. After retiring from a 30+ year career with New Johnsonville Tennessee Valley Authority as a Steamfitter, he turned his hobby of remodeling and landscaping into a second part time career. Always happy to help out his community, he was a founding member of the Chalk Level Fire Department, and a County Commissioner for his district of Benton County and could be regularly seen as a cook at various fund-raising events for the community. He was a lifetime member of Chalk Level Baptist Church.
Like his dad before him, Steve never met a stranger. He was ready at any time to strike up a conversation over a cup of coffee with a friend whether they be an old or new friend.
Along with his parents, Steve was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Carol Thompson Smith.
