Stephen Taylor Obituary
February 7, 1954 - January 3, 2026
Stephen Wayne "Steve" Taylor, 71, died Saturday, January 3, 2026, at Unity Point-Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.
He was born February 7, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Stanley and Thelma (Short) Taylor. Steve graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1972. On August 8, 1973, he was united in marriage to Kathy Kruse at St. Ansgar Lutheran Church in Waterloo. He was employed at the John Deere in Waterloo.
Survived by his wife of Cedar Falls; two sons, Derek (Reagan) Taylor of Johnston, IA and Brandon (Amy) Taylor of Waterloo; five grandchildren, Miles and Everett Taylor, Janaya and Kaitlyn Nielsen, and Michael Harper; nephew, Alex Taylor; niece, Jessica Taylor; and two sisters, Judy Toepfer of Waterloo and Joyce Taylor of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenny Taylor; and sister, Carol Taylor.
Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 8, 2026, at St. John Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with interment in the Greenwood Cemetery, Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Richardson Funeral Service in Cedar Falls. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John Lutheran Church.
