Stephen Kenneth Tuttle

Stephen Kenneth Tuttle, age 55, passed away at his home in Newport News, Virginia, on Tuesday, August 25, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Steve was born in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 7, 1953, to Elizabeth Nell Huitt Tuttle and Kenneth Doub Tuttle. He was the younger of two children. Steve grew up overseas in Taiwan, Egypt, Switzerland, Turkey and England. He also spent four years in Culpeper, Virginia.

Above all, Steve was a musician, but he worked as a Project Engineer for Ambassador Enterprises, Inc., a company which engineers sound, video and communication systems for the arts, education and healthcare. His work took him all over the world including places near those of his childhood.

Steve lived his life to the fullest. His favorite pastimes included downhill skiing and spending time in the Chesapeake Bay and on the York and James Rivers on his jet ski. But Steve's greatest passion in recent years was cycling. In spite of his illness during the past two years, he rode his bicycle over 3,000 miles in 2008 and 1500 miles in 2009.

Steve is survived by his sister, Sheila E. Tuttle and her husband, William S. Brown of Fort Ann, New York and a nephew, Jason D. Cadoret and his wife, Sara R. Cadoret of Ballston Spa, New York. He is also survived by several aunts and uncles: Bill Tuttle, Barbara Westmoreland, Betty and Roland Weber, Jo and William Bell, and Fay Dean Tuttle, all of North Carolina, as well as many first cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father.

Steve was best known for his steadfast love and loyalty to his friends and family and for and his most generous heart. Our beloved Steve was always there for us. He will continue to live in our hearts for all eternity.

Interment included a private gathering of friends and family both on the Chesapeake Bay and in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Steve would have appreciated donations to liver research. Donations may be sent to the American Liver Foundation, Mid Atlantic Division, 1341 North Delaware Avenue, Suite 209, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania 19125. Please indicate that you would like your donation to go to liver research. (Donations may also be made on-line at www.liverfoundation.org.)
