Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death a service of Mr. Steven Barney Usry, age 41, of Gibson, who died Saturday February 21, 2026, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday February 26, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson. Burial will follow in the Walden's Church Cemetery in Avera. Pallbearers, will be James Chalker, Christopher Hodges, Greg Black, Derrick Randall, Francisco Cruz, Timmy Usry. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 2:00 PM Thursday prior to services at the funeral home.
A cherished son, brother, and friend, was born on December 12, 1984, A lifelong resident of Gibson, Steven, was a proud graduate of Glascock County Consolidated School, where he completed his education in the class of 2004.
Steven had a wide array of interests that enriched his life and the lives of those around him. His passion for martial arts was a significant part of his identity, showcasing his determination and love for physical activity. He was often seen walking throughout the town, enjoying the outdoors and staying active. Steven loved to frequent the YMCA in Wrens, where he made the most of every opportunity to engage with others and stay fit.
A true animal lover, Steven had a particular fondness for his cats, finding joy in their companionship. His kindness extended beyond his pets, as he was known for his gentle spirit and unwavering support for family and friends.
Steven will be deeply missed by his family, including his mother, Judy Kitchens Lampp; of Gibson, his father, Charles Barney Usry; of Gibson, his sister, Sandra K. Jackson; of Thomson, his grandpa, Charles Usry (Jean), his niece, Destiny Jackson; his nephew, Dristin Jackson; as well as several cousins and friends who were fortunate enough to know him. He was preceded in death his grandma, Betty Usry Phillips, grandparents, John & Mary Nell Black and a nephew, Devin Jackson.
As we remember Steven, we celebrate a life that was full of passion and love for family, friends, animals, and the simple pleasures of daily life. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
