WILSON, Stephen C. On Sunday, December 4, 2022, Stephen Cole Wilson passed away peacefully, at the age of 74, at
Kaplan Family Hospice House, from a rare neurological disease. His loving family was by his side throughout his illness and with him at the time of his passing. Steve was a true gentleman who was kind to all those he encountered and fiercely devoted to his family, friends, and work. Steve leaves behind his wife Ellen neé Statuto; daughter Stephanie; son Ryan and wife Sarah. He was also the proud "baap" to his grandchildren Samantha, Charlie, Russell and Duncan, whom he adored. Steve was born on February 15, 1948, in Kearny, NJ to Angus and Doris Wilson. He was the oldest sibling to sister Janet, brother Richard and wife Diane, and brother David and wife Susan. Steve excelled at sports at a young age and eventually went on to play soccer collegiately at Grove City College, graduating in 1970. After college, he met Ellen and married in 1972; they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past April. While obtaining his MBA from Suffolk University, Steve pursued a career in title insurance, which spanned over 40 years. Steve spent most of his career at Old Republic Title Insurance Group, where he ultimately held the position of Vice Chairman until his retirement in 2013. Steve was a leader in the industry and served on many boards including a term as President of the New England Land Title Association. Steve and Ellen raised their family in Topsfield, MA. Despite a career that involved regular business travel, Steve was dedicated to his children's athletic endeavors. From coaching town youth soccer to spectating college games several states away, he was a constant presence on the sidelines. Steve was a passionate and skilled golfer, maintaining a single-digit handicap into his 70s. A 47-year member of Tedesco Country Club in Marblehead, MA, he was a senior club champion, sat on the board of governors and was chairman of the nominating committee. Steve spent over 40 years traveling to Hilton Head for golf trips with groups of friends. In 2008, he and Ellen moved to Belfair in Bluffton, SC, which was a dream of his for many years. The move south brought more friends into his golf circle and sparked an interest in Ellen to begin playing the game as well. During the past decade, they traveled extensively throughout the U.S. playing golf in as many states as they could together. Steve always made everyone feel better about life; his good cheer and the ever-present smile on his mustached face will be missed by all. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 13, at 11am, at the North Shore Community Baptist Church, 9 Hart Street, Beverly. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to
