Stephen Wright Obituary
His life began June 13, 1968, in Dowagiac, the first of two born to George Thomas and Arlene Jessup Wright.
Steve was an active 4-H member as a teen-ager, he was also actively involved in the Future Farmers of America. Steve was awarded his State FFA Degree in 1986, he then went on to be awarded the National FFA Degree in 1987. He graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1986. Steve was the sixth generation of the Wright family who were original settlers of Cass County in the 1820's. He worked on and lived at, the family's dairy and grain farm in Lagrange Township all his life. On March 24, 2018 he opened Wright Farms Market in Dowagiac, building a business to serve his community. He could often be found plowing snow or mowing grass depending on the season. Steve was a John Deere enthusiast, collecting memorabilia and hats. He loved Christmas and Christmas music, even leaving up one tree all year to enjoy. Steve could envision something and make it reality, especially the Farm Market with the help of his crew of friends.
Stephen will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by two daughters, Sarah Boyer of Holt, Mary Wright of Cassopolis; one sister, Denise (Gene) Stockwell of Dowagiac; long- time girlfriend, Betsy Kephart of Cassopolis; two nieces Elizabeth Stockwell, Olivia Stockwell; one nephew, Jonathan Stockwell and "Little Brother" Brian Townsend. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Family and friends will gather Friday, May 9, 2025, 4:00p.m. with his service at 6:00p.m. in Wagner Family Funerals Connelly Chapel, 202 North Broadway Street, Cassopolis. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
The family prefers contributions in memory of Stephen be made to Pokagon Volunteer Fire Department, 31555 Pokagon Hwy, Niles, MI 49120
